2018 installation at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games announced.

What a journey! And we're just getting started. Last Wednesday 24 March, a partnership was launched between the GC2018 Arts and Cultural Program and the One Million Stars to End Violence project. I got to teach Minister Stirling Hinchliffe (Minister for Transport and Commonwealth Games) and Minister Shannon Fentiman (Minister for the Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence) how to be a #starweaver and they were awesome! (Loved how Minister Hinchliffe suggested star weaving in Parliament!) Thanks to the GC2018 arts and cultural program, I am being supported to travel to Commonwealth nations such as the Cook Islands, Samoa, England, Ireland and Canada to share the One Million Stars project and to hear their stories of how they are working to end violence in their communities. How brilliant that I get to welcome Commonwealth nations into the growing global community of star weavers who believe in ending all forms of violence TOGETHER!

I'm so excited that we are going to have one million stars in ONE place and it will be showcased on an international platform, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. I begin my journey with a trip down to Newcastle tomorrow to visit the Weave100 Community there and to celebrate their 5,000 star installation at the Newcastle Library. On Saturday I make my last trip out to North Stradbroke Island to weave stars and all kinds of yuminess with the aunties from Maroomba Milbool women's group at Salt Water Murri's gallery. And then on Sunday, I squeeze my darling family one last time before I board the plane to the Cook Islands to visit another Weave100 Community.

I've been told me they've run out of ribbon on the island from so much star weaving! All the mama's are running on Star Power and I can't wait to share with them the beginning of this exciting partnership with the Office of Commonwealth Games. I don't who's more excited, me or the communities in Rarotonga! Coming for you Cook Islands!!
