International Women's Day 2018 #1WD2018

This month is full of IWD2018 events, workshops and talks both locally and across the country. I know it can get overwhelming at times, but if you can't make any events, know that women around the world are gathering, celebrating, and remembering everything we have achieved together, all the people we love and pray for and reigniting our commitment to work for women's rights around the world.

There are 2 exciting events happening for me and the One Million Stars project. On Thursday 8 March, I've been invited to speak at an event organised by Queensland based artist and star supporter, Tamara Armstrong called 'Women of Colour' Creative Immersion.

"a unique event to mark the unofficial opening of Tamara Armstrong's most ambitious solo exhibition 'Women of Colour'. The day will include inspiring talks and short creative workshops with guest speakers and facilitators Maryann Talia Pau of One Million Stars to End Violence' and Visionary Charmaine Idris of Divaheadwraps, a champagne lunch + exciting lucky door prizes."

I'm taking this moment to take some deep breaths and celebrate my colleagues and friends who are doing their bit to follow their dreams and contribute positively to their communities. I'm looking forward to hugs and a few tears and a glass of champagne!

I'll also be installing a surprise installation of stars this Friday, so make sure you're following our social media for videos and pics.

Hope you get a moment to celebrate the phenomenal women in your life and your support of them. There is still so much to do and we can't do this work alone. We need each other and as this movement demonstrates, when we work together, we achieve great things!

Happy International Women's Day! #IWD2018

x Maryann
